While the debate on whether Lashkar-e-Toiba has established its moles in Indian army continues with the arrest of three Muslim soldiers of Indian army, here come another shocking revelation as how Jammu and Kashmir police cops were stealing weapons from the Malkhana (where seized weapons are stored) and selling them to Lashkar commanders for handsome amounts of Rs 1-1.5 lakh per weapon.
The police have laid hands on two state police cops- Havaldar Nissar Hussain, Incharge ?Kot? (Malkhana), constable Mohd Ashiq, posted in Kishtwar police station along with Mohd Yusuf, Special Police Officer ( SPO) posted at Kishtwar police station in Doda district.
According to SSP Doda Manohar Singh, police encountered Mohd Yusuf and Mohd Yaseen, a Lashkar militant along with two AK rifles and some ammunition on their way towards a militant a hide-out.
The duo told the interrogators that the two cops were smuggling weapons from the Malkhana and selling to them.
The money was given to them by the Lashkar ?commanders?.
This is a third major incident in past three weeks when police have exposed Lashkar moles in army and police.
Earlier, Military intelligence arrested three army soldiers- Lance Naik, Mohd Shakeel , Sepoy Abdul Haq and Mohammd Sharief posted in Indian army nine Corps JKLI division.
The three were providing shelter, acting as couriers of money, messages and also supplying Lashkar operatives in border towns of Rajouri and Poonch, the special army mobile SIM cards.
The investigating agencies laid hands on them tracing the phone calls made from the mobile of Lashkar terrorist- Noor-E-Ilhai alias Tipu involved in attacks at Hindu pilgrims at Jammu bus stand on 12 June, 2006. Tipu now in police custody also disclosed the names of two state police cops of state police 9th battalion- Sikander and Mohd Kabir posted in Kathua and Poonch respectively and are now in police custody. Both used to act as informers and also provide logistic support to Lashkar.
Tipu has also shocked the security agencies when he disclosed that Lashkar was in possession of mobile phone bombs, which once attached with explosives could cause massive destruction.
There have been hundreds of SIM cards in possession of terrorists in state. Security experts here say that such incidents ask for stringent scrutinisation process for induction in armed forces. The arrests have also raised serious questions over the rehabilitation policy for terrorists adopted by the Jammu and Kashmir government. The arrested army men were former terrorists, deployed in special battalion of JAKLi under the rehabilitation scheme of state government. Several battalions employing surrendered terrorists have been raised in army, BSF, CRPF and state police. The state government promises a sum of Rs 300,000 to terrorists embracing surrender along with other benefits under its rehabilitation scheme. Similarly, majority of the SPO'swho have been inducted in state police are former terrorists. There have been umpteen cases when the SPOs have deserted the police force along with weapons.
The arrests have confirmed the claim of Lashkar-e-Toiba Poonch deputy commander Abu Osama that the outfit had established several moles in India army. He had claimed in an interview to a Hindi news channel four months back that the Lashkar moles would be playing a significant role in ?Islamic terrorism? in forth coming days.
