Shree Burrabazar Kumarsabha Pustakalaya organised a seminar on Terrorism and Internal Security in Kolkata. Speaking at the seminar, former Army Chief, General (Retd) Shankar Roy Chaudhary said only discussion would not solve the problem but it needs some concrete steps on various fronts. ?The judicial system, if necessary, will have to be changed as even terrorists also get bail easily. POTA has been scraped. The whole north-east is disturbed. New terrorist organistions are coming up. The Naxalites and Maoists are more active than ever before. Al-Qaeda, LTTE and Islamic terrorist activities are also being expanded. The Hindus are in majority, but they are the most feared. The root cause of all the problems is our weak leadership. Unitedly we need to bring new good people in the leadership,? he said. Referring to the forthcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, he said the initiative would be positive and fruitful only if good people are elected in the election, cutting across party line.

Shri K.P.S. Gill, former Director General of Punjab Police, said the country has become not only insecure but insensitive also. ?Hundreds of people die, but no activity is reported in Delhi. Though, I am not disappointed, but extremely worried as to how to control it. Bringing Punjab back to normalcy was not difficult because we proceeded with a commitment. But we are silent over the deteriorating condition of Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan. It has been acknowledged internationally that Hindus in Bangladesh are the most suffer and insecure. The people of an independent country should have courage to speak the truth. The freedom is protected with sacrifice and not with vested interest. Our leadership lacks the right thinking. We have failed to stop infiltration. Now terrorists and foreign powers are freely active in the country. It must be changed. We shall have to stop looking at the governments, which are busy in appeasement. We shall have to stand on our own feet,? Shri Gill added.

Shri Prakash Singh, former Director General of BSF appealed to the majority Hindus to remove differences of untouchability and casteism and stand as a united force. Shri Vibhuti Bhushan Nandi, Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, also spoke on the occasion.
