The ISI backed jehadi extremists of Kerala like NDF, PDP, SIMI, etc. have time and again declared that they will convert ?Kerala into Kashmir´. The ?Paradise on Earth´ has now become a jehadi terror factory and Islamic terrorists are bent upon converting ?God´s own country´ into ?Terror´s own Land´.

Close on the heals of the Marad massacre of eight Hindu fishermen, attacks on Sabarimala pilgrims, burning of Tamil Nadu state bus, RDX bomb blasts at a fishing vessel in Beypore and recovery of gelatine sticks in Kozhikode was witness to another major strike by Islamic terrorists.

Mavoor Road, the heart of Kozhikode city in North Kerala, was rocked by two major explosions triggered by bombs with timer devices on March 3. The first blast occurred at 12.45 pm near the cloak room of the Kerala Government Transport Station and the second at 1.00 pm near the private bus station, which is 500 metres away from the transport stand. Mavoor road is the heartland of Kozhikode and at any given time one can see a large number of people either at the state or private bus stands.

The audacity of the perpetuators of this terrorist attack is that they telephoned the District Collector´s office half an hour before the explosion from a PCO and informed them that two bombs will go up in Mavoor Road and also warned Hindus of more ?Marad´ massacres. This showed that the jehadis have acquired the capacity to strike at will. By the time the police reached the spot, the first bomb had blasted. The second bomb struck just as the police were searching the area. A police constable was injured due to its impact. Although the saving grace was that there were no death, window panes in the locality shattered due to the bomb´s effect.

By evening all the newspaper offices received letters in the name of Al-Kanoun claiming responsibility for the blasts. Moreover due to intensive combing by bomb disposal squads, special branch and sniffer dogs, bombs were located in Vengali over bridge, Elathur, Nadapuram and Chalapuram. A terror alert was sounded and police combed the neighbouring Kannur and Muslim dominated Malappuram districts. Based on the inputs provided by the PCO owner and a person who overheard a suspicious looking person talking over mobile to another, police have made out a sketch of the suspect. Raids were also conducted on NDF premises.

Despite all these, the basic fact is that this incident is a total failure on the part of the police and intelligence set up. Time and again, RAW, IB, Military intelligence, Coast Guard have warned that there is heavy inflow of RDX and explosives to jehadi elements from ISI through coastal areas of Kerala especially Kasaragod, Kannur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. After the haul of almost 800 gelatine sticks, the southern command Chief of the Army had warned of increased activities by jehadis and ISI. Even recently Kozhikode was agog with rumours that jehadis were going to strike at the special court trying Marad cases, to release the accused. As a result of this protection to the court and accused were heightened. But the jehadis could strike at noon, at a public place where police presence is there for 24 hours, shows the total failure of the state and police set-up.

Although Al-Kanoun, a paper organisation has claimed responsibility, everyone knows that the NDF is behind the blast. They probably wanted to test the efficiency of the police set-up. With police bungling up the situation, we can hope for high intensity bombs with RDX aimed at inflicting mass human casualties.

The Congress-led UDF ministry which is at the mercy of the Muslim League has been soft-pedaling all jehadi-NDF involved cases in the name of Muslim vote bank and NDF´s link with the Muslim League. Case investigations have all reached a dead-end. Right from humiliation of national flag at Karippur airport and Kothamangalam, to the Tamil Nadu bus blast, Beypore fishing vessal to gelatine sticks, the list goes on.

The BJP spokesman B.K. Shekhar has demanded a CBI probe into the blast, since the state police, which is totally under the control of Muslim League, could not be depended upon to conduct a free and fair investigation.

Hindu Aikya Vedi Secretary Marad Suresh has also demanded a CBI investigation.
