THE special two-day session of the eleventh Dharma Sansad concluded in Guwahati with the resolve to develop a strong Hindu vote-bank in the country and accelerating efforts to liberate math-mandirs from the government. It was the third session of the Dharma Sansad. Two sessions have already been organised in Haridwar and Prayag. The fourth session is scheduled to be held in Puri and the fifth in Tirupati soon. It is to be noted that the saints had decided to organise five special sessions of Dharma Sansad this year at different parts of the country. A total of 473 saints and top VHP leaders including 24 Vanvasi religious leaders and 73 local saints participated in the Sansad in Guwahati, which adopted 10 resolutions on various subjects. The Dharma Sansad decided to organise a week-long Sant Yatra in Assam beginning from March 21 to bring awareness in the region.

Inaugurating the Sansad on February 11, Shri Ashok Singhal, VHP president, appealed to Hindus across the country to unite as a strong vote-bank as the so-called secular parties listen only to those who are united as a strong vote-bank. Talking about the Bangladeshi infiltration, Shri Singhal said the Assam government had provided the infiltrators illegal shelter and this menace must be arrested. He said the infiltrators are not only posing a danger to the economy and security of the country but also creating a law-and-order problem.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pravin Togadia, VHP general secretary, said after the Supreme Court repealed the IMDT Act, the Congress government is now trying to bring it back in the form of Foreigners Act-1946 just to appease the Muslims. He said it would pave the way for Bangladeshi infiltrators to spread all over the country and create more dangers for the national security. He warned that the VHP and saints would not tolerate it and an extensive campaign would be launched against it soon.
