Coming down heavily on the efforts of some state governments including the Andhra Pradesh government, providing reservation to minorities on religious grounds, the RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan has termed it another attempt to prepare grounds for another partition of the country. He said it would prove a trauma on people. Shri Sudarshan was addressing a gathering of uniformed Sangh Swayamsevaks in Hyderabad recently. ?Those whose roots are abroad and are residing here can be considered minorities but not those who are born here. Neither Muslims nor Christians residing here have come from abroad. Politicians accept their demands only to garner their votes. They should think beyond hanging on to power and act in the interests of the nation,? he said.

Talking about jehadi terrorism, Shri Sudarshan said Muslims claim that Islam is for peace but the jihadi forces have been killing innocent people in the name of Islam and holy war. ?Though these forces claim to be indulging in violence for establishing peace, the hollowness in theory is reflected in the unrest and internal wrangles within Muslims. No Muslim nation in the world is free from internal struggles. Muslims are quite happy in India and are living with honour. In our country a Persian, a Muslim or a Christian can be elected for the highest post. But it does not happen in other countries. When other countries did not allow the Pope John Paul, we welcomed him in our country. The result is that we are facing the threat of conversions. The politicians are keeping quite on conversions because they need their votes. They can see the power for themselves but not the welfare of society. They are appeasing minorities by extending undue reservation benefits to them,? he said.

Shri Sudarshan said all the ancient saints of the country like Swami Dayanand, Aurobindo, Bhagini Nivedita, Annie Besant and others worked for development of Hindu society. Annie Besant had once said if Hindus assembled at a place for prayer for 15 minutes, it would give them divine strength to lead the rest of the world. ?By the inspiration of all these saints, Dr Hedgewar started the Sangh in 1925. Today the RSS is marching towards its goal,? he added.

Talking about the Maoist menace in different parts of the country, Shri Sudarshan said the Maoists didn'thave any constructive plan to remove poverty in villages. ?What they know is nothing but destruction. They extort money for purchasing sophisticated weapons like AK 47/57, each of which costs around Rs 4 lakh to 5 lakh. If they spend this amount on development of villages, it will improve their credibility. But they don'tdo this. They can never take up constructive measures for welfare of the people,? he said.
