Two Swayamsevaks honoured with Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Puraskar
Two senior RSS Swayamsevaks from Andhra Pradesh, Shri Piratala Venkateshvarulu and Dr P. Jairam, have been honoured with the Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Puraskar in New Delhi on November 19 for their outstanding social services. Shri Venkateshvarulu has been Sangh Pracharak for many years and had also been general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for several years. Presently he is chief editor of Krishna Patrika, a 105-year-old Tulugu newspaper from Hyderabad. Dr Jairam had been RSS Sanghchalak in Poorva Andhra Pradesh and presently is Sampark Pramukh. He runs a nursing home at Jaggyapet. He mostly renders medical services in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh. Both the Swayamsevaks are third-year OTC trained. The award is given by the Global Economic Council, New Delhi, to honour various people rendering outstanding social services in different fields of social life. This year 40 people have been honoured with the Puraskar.
Sarkaryavah celebrates Deepavali in Champa
RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat celebrated Deepavali at the Bharatiya Kushtha Nivarak Sangh Ashram in Champa, Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at the function, he said the Sangh work was based on pure love and affection and Bharatiya Kushtha Nivarak Sangh was the ideal example of it. ?It is my society and serving it is my responsibility. This feeling keeps the karmayogis always active,? he said. Shri Bhagwat called upon the people to engage themselves in social work instead of wasting their time in other things. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh was also present on the occasion. Both Shri Mohan Bhagwat and Dr Raman Singh planted saplings at the Ashram. (FOC)
Full-time workers? training camp of VHP
Vishwa Hindu Parishad organised a week-long full-time workers? training camp at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya. Inaugurating the camp on November 22, VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal stressed the need to make Sanskrit the national language. He said strengthening social harmony was the biggest challenge before the VHP workers and they should leave no stone unturned to achieve this goal. He said the division created by Islamic invaders and Britishers had caused much damage to the Hindu society and it should not be allowed to be further widened. He appealed to VHP workers to start service activities among Scheduled Castes, Vanvasis and backward classes. He also appealed to various sects of Hindu society to come at a single platform and demonstrate a united Hindu force. Talking about the work of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Shri Singhal said the RSS had been developing dedicated workers for the social cause. Remembering Shri Morapant Pingle, the former senior Sangh Pracharak, Shri Singhal said Pingleji always stressed the need for continuous training of workers and that was why the camps were organised regularly. Shri Bhante Gyan Jagat, senior Buddhist leader, said collective thinking was necessary for any organisation. He praised the efforts of VHP in uniting various sects of Hindu society. After the training camp all the workers will be engaged in service activities. (FOC)
Sewa Bharati performs mass wedding
With a view to enhancing social harmony and also to encouraging people to help in the marriage of economically deprived girls, Sewa Bharati, Delhi, and Sanatan Dharma Pratinidhi Sabha jointly organised a function in New Delhi to conduct mass wedding of economically backward girls on November 12. A total of 19 girls tied the knot at the ceremony. According to Shri Brijmohan Sethi, president, Sewa Bharati, the girls were also gifted certain items needed for running a new family. Separate mandaps were erected for each couple at the ceremony. Besides Swami Raghwanand, president, Delhi Sanatan Dharma Pratinidhi Sabha, various leaders of Sewa Bharati were also present on the occasion to bless the pairs. Sewa Bharati has been organising such functions for the last four years. (FOC)
