RSS undertakes countrywide awareness campaign

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched a massive countrywide awareness campaign from July 20, the day the move for division of Bengal had begun. The campaign to be concluded on August 15, the day India was partitioned, aimed to contact crores of people across the country. All the Prant units of RSS have planned different programmes as per their convenience and the campaign is in full swing in all the Prants.
According to Shri Indresh Kumar, Akhil Bharatitya Sah-Sampark Pramukh of RSS, preparation for the campaign had begun since July 10 with the organisation of training camps of Sangh Swayamsevaks. ?Since July 10, training camps of Swayamsevaks, printing of literature, preparing main points for discussion and the topic discussion at daily shakhas had begun and it lasted for 12 days, i.e. July 22. After that Swayamsevaks started the contact drive with full preparations. The campaign began in all seven Prants of Uttar Pradesh and some Prants of south in July itself,? he said.
The Delhi unit started the campaign on August 1. Elaborating on the campaign Delhi Prant Sanghchalak Shri Satyanarayan Bansal said that during the fortnight campaign the Sangh Swayamsevaks had planned to contact at least 20 lakh families and about 80 lakh people of the national capital. He said through extensive wall writings, posters, banners, meetings, etc. the Swayamsevaks would turn the whole Delhi in the colour of Vande Mataram. He said a meeting of intellectuals of Delhi would also be organised at Shah auditorium on August 10, in which veteran Sangh leader Shripati Shastri and editor of The Pioneer, Shri Chandan Mitra would participate.
The Sangh Swayamsevaks will contact at least 80 lakh people of Delhi.
Shri Bansal also said that the decision to observe centenary of anti Banga-bhanga movement was taken at the Pratinidhi Sabha of RSS that met in Magalore in March this year. ?This effort will strengthen our integrated national life and pave the way for Bharatiya nationalism to march towards its cherished goal of Akhand Bharat,? Shri Bansal said while talking about the relevance of the campaign.
Talking about the Banga-bhang move by the British government, he said: ?It was a sinister move to infuse the poisonous two-nation theory into Bharat'sharmonious national life. Fortunately, the alert nation opposed it vociferously. Resistance to this divisive plan was not confined to Bengal alone but it acquired an all India dimension under the leadership of Rishi Aurobindo, Rabindranath Thakur, Sister Nivedita and Bipin Chandra Pal. Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak from Maharashtra and Lala Lajpat Rai from Punjab also joined the move. The leadership trio of Lal-Bal-Pal became popular during this movement. This movement also made the immortal song Vande Mataram, which proved a major source of inspiration for all freedom fighters. The nationalist Muslim leaders like Maulana Liaquat Hussain also joined the chorus in opposing the move. Finally, nationalist people of the country won and divisive policies of the British were defeated. King George V had to undo the partition of Bengal in 1911.?
Shri Bansal condemned the recent speech by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who in England praised the British rule on India. ?It is indeed paradoxical to note that while the country is remembering the integral national spirit that was strengthened by our national leaders hundreds years ago, it has been sought to be humiliated by our Prime Minister. It amounts to retrospective insult on all those freedom fighters, who lost their lives for Independence,? he added.
