FOC
With a view to popularising the Indian New Year in modern times with suitable changes to appeal the new generation, the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) in association with Bharatiya Navvarsh Aayojan Mandal, organised a function in New Delhi on April 9. Explaining the background of the New Year in Bharatiya ethos Shri Vidyanand Acharya said that the Indian New Year was more scientific and accurate. He said that while time in western concept could be divided up to seconds only, in Indian system it is sub-divided up to the levels of pal, vipal and so on. Shri Muralidhar Rao, convenor, SJM, said that he was pained to see that such a beautiful and scientific festival demonstrating the genius of our ancestors was lossing popularity because of new marketing techniques by western imitators. It is because of this reason that the SJM decided to popularise the Indian New Year celebration throughout the country, he added.
