When so-called intellectuals and the modern youth in India are feeling proud at aping the West, the Europeans are being influenced by the Hindu tradition. Giving up their Western traditions, George Okre, a resident of Switzerland and Susana, a resident of England tied the nuptial knot on February 18, 2005 as per Hindu traditions in Rishikesh. ?I am deeply influenced by the Hindu way of worship,? said George and expressed his deep reverence for the Ganga, which had influenced him so much that he has decided to make Uttaranchal his home. When Susana was asked why she was fascinated by the Hindu culture, she said that a husband is regarded as a God in Hindu Dharma. She said that Hindu karma and sanskars, which are performed at the time of marriage, hold a deep meaning for her while marriage according to Western culture is just a formality. Both of them wished to have been born in Hindu families so that they could have been brought up according to Hindu sanskars.
Susana and George took seven rounds of the fire and were united in the bond of love. Pandit Bhola Nath Bhandari performed the marriage ceremony.
