Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N. Chandrababu Naidu, has termed the dismissal of BJP government in Goa as ?total misuse of powers by the Governor.? Talking to Organiser in New Delhi, he said that by appointing the new Chief Minster in a hurry and not giving him time to prove his majority, the Governor has paved the way for further manipulation. ?I condemn it totally. The Governor has murdered democracy in Goa. Is it the way to work? It is total misuse of powers. That is why we feel that anybody who is in active politics should not be nominated as a Governor,? he said.
The TDP chief said if somebody was not satisfied with the action of the Assembly Speaker, he should have gone to court. Approaching the Governor is no way out. ?The Speaker is elected by the Assembly and by the majority members. Any misuse of power has to be decided by the court,? he added. Quoting the Sarkaria Commission, in which he was member of a sub-committee, he said, ?The Commission too had given clear recommendations that under no circumstancees should the Governor misuse Article 356 and everything has to be decided on the floor of the House, not in the drawing room of a Governor.? He said his party had always been against misuse of the Governor'sposition in the past by the Congress governments and even now the Congress government has done the same thing.
