Golden jubilee of J&K ABVP
Ensure coordination between old and young—Mohan Bhagwat
“Our younger generation has the capacity to achieve its objective but it requires guidance and inspiration from its seniors and if this coordination is ensured, no problem in this country will remain unsolved,” said Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah of RSS. He was speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of the Jammu-Kashmir unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), held in Jammu recently.
Shri Bhagwat expressed pleasure in having a rendezvous with the members of the erstwhile Students Nationalist Association (SNA), which was later converted into ABVP, and said that the septuagenarian fighters were inspiration for ABVP activists. Stressing that patriotism and national spirit were basics for development of the nation, he claimed that India had failed to tackle certain problems like unemployment because the policy-makers adopted Western models to solve the issues. “By adopting indigenous models and through hard work with commitment, I am sure, India will once again become vishwaguru,” he added.
Prof. Chamanlal Gupta, former Union Minister and one-time activist of the erstwhile SNA, highlighted the contribution of the SNA members in intensifying the agitation against Sheikh Abdullah’s autocratic regime. In his address Shri Sunil Ambekar, All India Organising Secretary of ABVP, said that the Parishad had been engaged in motivating the younger generation, particularly the student community, for national development throughout the country. Expressing concern over the commercialisation of education, Shri Ramesh Pappa, north zone organising secretary, said that the ABVP was not against the entry of private sector in education but the use of the educational institution as moneymaking units would not be allowed at all. He said the Parishad in J&K would continue to raise its voice against any injustice and would support the movement for re-organisation of the state. Dr Omprakash Mengi, Prant Sanghchalak, Shri Pawan Kohli and Shri Anil Padha also spoke on the occasion. Several members of the SNA were also felicitated by Shri Mohan Bhagwat.
