People in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana, particu-larly at the civil hospital, are habituated to seeing about 10 to 12 sevavratis, (aged 70-year old) regularly visiting the civil hospital to serve the poor in-patients with tea, biscuits and milk every day. They have been doing it uninterruptedly for so many years. They serve hospital patients without expecting anything in return. Shri Krishna Gopal Dutt, district Sewa Pramukh of Sewa Bharati, was inspired with one such activity in Ludhiana (Punjab) and he initiated the project with the Vanaprastha Karyakartas in Yamuna Nagar. Initially they themselves covered the expenditure, but slowly the people from the society joined in to share both the means and services. This initiative is leading to some more service projects through Sewa Bharati. The day'sprogramme, according to Shri Jagdish Lal Lamba, secretary of Sewa Bharati, begins with procuring about 10 litres of milk and making tea. Then they visit the civil hospital at sharp 7.15 a.m. to distribute tea, biscuits and milk to the patients. These sevavratis give the patients a hearing to their difficulties as well as those of their attendants and help to sort them out to the best possible extent.
