Four minor girls baptised in Dibrugarh
Derecognise school and take action against Chruch
FOC
Shri A. Balakrishnan, vice president of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari has sought derecognition of the Little Flower School, Dibrugarh, Assam, where baptism of four girl students was carried out on May 22/23, 2004. In a letter written to Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, Shri Balakrishnan demanded legal action against the local Church authorities for subjecting the students studying in the school to mental torture. Baptism of school students below the age of 18 years belonging to other religious faiths is unlawful and amounts to mental violence. ?Parents send their children to school to give them good education for a bright future and also for the good of the society and country. The parents? intentions in sending them to schools are not to get their children converted to an alien religion. I would like to know whether you (the Chief Minister) approve of this type of conversion to Christianity clandestinely carried out by the Church in the name of imparting education,? asked Shri Balakrishnan, in his letter dated August 9, 2004.
