The Kerala unit of Akhil Bharatiya Drishtiheen Kalyan Sangh celebrated the 469th birth anniversary of Bhakta Surdas on April 24 at Palghat. The function was inaugurated by the well-known music composer in Malayalam, V. Dakshinamurthy. The keynote address on Bhakta Surdas was delivered by A.V. Bhaskar, Margdarshak of Bharatiya Vidya Niketan. The function was presided over by M. Aravindaleshau of Krishna Jyothi Sevasraya Kendra. A calendar depicting the portrait of Surdas was also released at the function by Dakshina-murthy. The Surdas Bhajan Mandali with its full orchestra team consisting of blind artistes staged bhakthi gyan sudha, which filled the air with rever-berating devotional ecstasy. N. Gopakumar, Kerala state organising secretary of the Drishtiheen Kalyan Sangh, welcomed the gathering and K. Gangadharan Master, the state executive committee member, proposed a vote of thanks. (FOC)
