Massive demonstration by ABVP on Parliament Street ABVP demands Prime Minister's resignation
AKHIL Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the largest student organisation of the country, demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for his failure to curb the corruption in the country. Intensifying its agitation against political corruption in the country the organisation staged a massive demonstration on the Parliament Street in New Delhi on March 4.
Addressing the demonstrators the ABVP general secretary Shri Umesh Dutt said the UPA government has lost the credibility of staying in power. Pointing his guns at Prime Minister he said the country doesn’t want a helpless Prime Minister like Dr Manmohan Singh, and therefore he should resign forthwith. He said if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are clean on Swiss Bank accounts they should declare it publicly and give affidavit in court also.
He said the most corrupt Cabinet and considering Prime Minister as an honest person is a mismatch. He is fully responsible for the corruption. Silence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over all this is more surprising. He further alleged that following the nationwide pressure the formation of JPC, resignations of some tainted ministers, abstentions arrests and raids are mere formalities and daub. Since the intention of UPA Government doesn’t look fair on the issue of curruption, the students and youth are forced to take on this agitation from Parliament to roads. ABVP will make this agitation a mass movement in near future, he declared.
Before marching to the Parliament Street, the demonstrators gathered at Jantar Mantar where they were addressed by DUSU President Jitender Chowdhary, RUSU President Manish Yadav, Haryana State Secretary Vikram Koka, Uttranchal State Secretary Brijesh Bankoti, Rajasthan State Secretary Sohan Singh, Himachal State Secretary Ajay Bherta, Western UP State Secretary Rishi Gaur, etc. National organising secretary Shri Sunil Ambekar, joint organising secretary Shri Sunil Bansal, central zone organising secretary Shri Vishnudutt Sharma, national secretary Shreerang Kulkarni were also present at the demonstration.
Later, a delegation consisting of ABVP national general secretary Shri Umesh Dutt and other senior leaders presented a memorandum to President of India.
