Sangh Samachar
Anti-SEZ week by BKS from September 25 to October 2
The national managing committee of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh that met in Gorakhpur from July 21 to 22 has decided to launch a countrywide awareness campaign against special economic zones (SEZ) being established by the government. Under the awareness campaign, anti-SEZ week would be observed from September 25 to October 2. Under the campaign the farmers would be apprised of the adverse consequences of the SEZ. On last day of the meeting a resolution was also adopted against SEZ in which the government was urged to scrap it forthwith.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony Shri Sureshrao Ketkar, Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh of RSS and the guide of the Kisan Sangh said Kisan Sangh is the largest organisation of farmers in the world. He called upon the workers to become active against the anti-farmer policies of the government. Earlier, speaking at the inaugural ceremony, BKS president Thakur Sankata Prasad said SEZ is a conspiracy to trap the farmers. Shri Dinesh Kulkarni, organising secretary of BKS, said the land is becoming non-fertile due to heavy use of chemical fertilizers in various parts of the country. He appealed to the farmers to adopt organic farming on large scale.

Swayamsevaks help boat tragedy victims

The victims were going to participate in the Guru Poornima function at Garhwaghat Ashram. Eleven people were saved. The dead bodies of nine victims were retrieved the same day while the operation was on to find out the other bodies. When the news of capsizing the boat spread, people from the Ashram and the Sangh swayamsevaks rushed for help. Immediately, ten divers jumped into the Ganga with nets and started searching the victims. The swayamsevaks also helped in finding out the dead bodies. Those who were saved included Sangampal, Poonam, Sudheshwari Devi, Parmila, Sunita and Ramnarayan. Prominently Zila Sharirik Pramukh Shri Rajan, Zila Pracharak Shri Akhand Pratap, Sayam Karyavah Shri Balendu Shekhar Tripathi, Shri Sanjay and Manoj were among the swayamsevaks who participated in the relief operation.
