Tibetan demonstration against Hu Jintao?s visit
When the Government of India and the CPM were busy in welcoming the Chinese President Hu Jintao in India, some nationalist organisations including Bharat-Tibet Sahayog Manch, Himalaya Parivar, Hindu Manch, Nationalist Muslim Movement and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad along with thousands of Tibetan youth were staging a massive demonstration at Jantar-Manter in New Delhi. Holding placards in their hands, the demonstrators were protesting the Chinese claim over Arunachal Pradesh. With the pictures of the Dalai Lama in their hands, the Tibetan youth were demanding the liberation of Kailash Mansarovar and Tibet from the occupation of China. The demonstrators were addressed by Dr Nand Kishore Trikha of Core Group for Tibet, Mohammad Afzal of Nationalist Muslim Movement, Shri Mahesh Chaddha of Bharat Tibet Sahayog Manch, Shri Jaibhagwan Goel of Shiv Sena and Shri Bhupendra Kansal of Himalaya Parivar.
Dr Kuldip Agnihotri, convenor of Bharat Tibet Sahayog Manch and Shri Khiren Rijoo, MP from Arunachal Pradesh, said the Chinese claim over Indian territory is an insult to India. They said the Indian Parliament on November 14 this month itself had resolved to liberate the Indian land from the Chinese occupation. Now it becomes duty of our government to press upon that resolve. Any self-respected country would have cancelled the visit of the premier of the country that illegally claims over the host country?s territory. But the Government of India is insulting the whole nation on this issue. A memorandum was also presented to the Prime Minister in this regard. The ABVP also burnt an effigy of Hu Jintao in the JNU Delhi.
