Report Dr Joshi cautions against Chinese imperialism By Sanjeev Kumar SENIOR BJP leader and former Union HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi cautioned the nation against the Chinese imperialism. He was speaking at a seminar organised in Patna recently. The seminar held in four sessions was addressed by many other distinguished persons and experts also. Dr Joshi exposed the various overt and covert manoeuvres that China has been resorting to, in order to undermine India’s position and increase its own strength, in the region for the sake of its own territorial and economic advancement. Dr Joshi said that as China’s sea route was blocked by Japan and Australia, it wanted to open a new sea route via the Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea, for which it needed a corridor in the Indian Subcontinent, via India. For this, it has joined hands with Pakistan and Bangladesh to assist it in its expansionist designs. Not only this, to adjust its ever burgeoning population, it has set its eye on a vast tract of Indian land. It claims the entire Himalayan belt from Jammu & Kashmir till Arunachal Pradesh, including Sikkim to be disputed territory. To this end China has been aiding and abetting various secessionist activities in India through Myanmar, Pakistan, and Bangladesh since last several decades and now Nepal has also joined the anti-India club under its influence. He said that America instead of restraining China has become its ally as China is now its biggest market place. So now we have the triad of US, China and Pakistan, working against India. The situation has become more vicious after the disintegration of USSR. He said that despite the fact that India was the first country to officially recognise the Maoist China, China has been constantly working to undermine India’s position in the world polity. Dr Joshi advised India not only to stall China’s expansionist moves but also to push it back into its own border. For this he called for enhancing strategic preparedness and also to launch a diplomatic blitzkrieg against China by involving the other anti-China countries like Vietnam, South Korea, Kampuchea, Laos, Australia and Japan in South East Asian region. He also advised the government to create a centre for Chinese studies so as to keep an updated assessment of Chinese intentions ready at hand for use in times of strategic and diplomatic needs. This session was presided over by former Vice Chancellor of BN Mandal University Dr Amarnath Sinha.
