Girls hostel for Vanvasi students in Kinnaur

Kalyan Ashram joint general secretary Shri Kripa Prasad Singh inaugurated a girls hostel for Vanvasi students of Kinnaur on August 28. Project officer of Tribal Development Project Shri Harbans Singh Negi and ADM of Kinnaur Shri Amar Singh were also present on the occasion. The inaugural ceremony began with Ganesh pujan and havan with the local Negi community members. Shri Harbans Singh Negi appreciated the efforts of Kalyan Ashram in promoting Vanvasis of the country. He assured all possible help to the students of the hostel from Himachal Pradesh Government. Shri Lama Choo Edon expressed happiness over the constructive approach for the development of Vanvasi girls in Kinnaur district. He also donated Rs one lakh for girls? education to the Kalyan Ashram.

Shri Kripa Prasad Singh pointed out that Kalyan Ashram workers have been working in 304 of the total 609 Vanvasi populated districts of the country with educational, healthcare and economic development projects. He said a total of 1,20,413 students are getting education in various educational projects of the Kalyan Ashram. The number of the beneficiaries of health projects were 11,42,000. He said lakhs of Vanvasi youth are getting benefit through sports activities of the Kalyan Ashram. President of local unit of Kalyan Ashram Shri Ramlal Negi proposed a vote of thanks. Kumari Mina Negi was appointed warden of the hostel which has been named as Laxmibai Kanya Chhatrawas.
