Sewa Bharati to rehabilitate Leh flood victims
THE relief operation by Sangh swayamsevaks in flood hit areas of Ladakh is still going on. According to Shri Srinivas Murthy, Uttar Kshetra Sewa Pramukh of the RSS, a total of 70 trucks relief material collected from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, etc. has already been dispatched to Ladakh with the help of the Army and the relief material has been distributed in 49 of the total 52 affected villages. He said the Sangh swayamsevaks during the rescue operations saved the life of 27 people. He further said that a total of 207 dead bodies were recovered and about 225 people are still missing. The whole Ladakh region was divided into four parts for conducting a survey of the damage. Now the Sewa Bharati activists have decided to set up hostel, multi-purpose community centres and also building houses for the victims in all 52 villages, he said. The imposition of Code of Conduct after the announcement of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council elections have adversily affected the relief operation in the region and the victims are not getting help from the government agencies, he emphasised.
